We have a couple new members.
First is LarryD from Acts of the Apostasy. Here is what he writes:
Just came across this blog today, and I’d like to apply for membership – but I can only stay until my wife finds out! Yeah, it’s a long story.
LarryD – you’ve got to explain that long story.

Agreed–and welcome, Larry!
The story probably goes something like this: When Larry and Mrs. Larry were courting they were both Catholics, but rather nominal Catholics. They were young, living in the world, living a life not much different than their contemporaries. They got married in a Catholic church (probably a parent’s parish) and then only went to mass once or twice a month. And then a baby came along and Larry started to think about life’s Big Questions and perhaps suddenly, perhaps gradually, his Catholic faith began to take on more meaning to him. Or perhaps he encountered hardship, loss of a job, health problems, or maybe just discord in the home, and by turning back to his faith perhaps he found some relief. But, in this spiritual journey, his wife hasn’t followed him. Perhaps their marriage wasn’t the best and his seeking solace in his faith has driven her further from it. Perhaps having a daughter might have caused his wife to become “pro-choice” (“because she might need an abortion one day!”) Perhaps his children have gone off to college and become secular and his wife has followed them in this to remain close to them. I know a lot of guys like Larry and, though the elements are a little different from one guy to the next, they always add up the same way. His faith is just one more “issue” between him and his wife.
Pretty darn close assessment, Dutchman. We are "unequally yoked" on many issues, with the Catholic faith being the biggest. My situation isn't so unique as I've come to find out. I'm not prepared to 'tell the rest of the story' at this point, but suffice it to say that prayers are always appreciated, for me, Mrs Larry and our grade-school aged sons.
"Numquid ambulabunt duo pariter nisi convenerit eis""How can two walk together, but they be agreed?"
Wow nice guessing Dutchman. I was thinking something more mundane. Like maybe he had a long Honey-Do list to finish and wanted to hideout with us.Welcome Larry and I'll be sure to pray for you.A friend of mine was in a similar situation years ago. His wife eventually became a practicing Catholic like him. They just had their 11th child last month and are doing great
