I’ve been raising my kids Methodist for the past few years. The details are contained here in an earlier post.
Lately I’ve felt stronger in my own faith and have become skeptical about the original arrangement between myself and the wife. Last week I told her I wanted the children raised Catholic, to her credit she didn’t blow a gasket and we’re continuing with the discussion on a routine basis. When it gets heated we both back off.
She’s really trying to come to grips with the idea, better than I would if the positions were reversed.
I would appreciate any prayers that might be dedicated for us to successfully work this out.

Thanks folks. FWIW, things came to a head today. The wife ordered the Methodist Book of Discipline and the Book of Resolutions. The first spells out beliefs of the UMC, the second tells how they're implemented (at least that's my understanding).While glancing throught the second she discovered that, contrary to the belief of both herself AND her pastor, the UMC endorses the idea of "reproductive rights".That poor guy is going to feel like crap when he finds out about it. Not more than a week ago he looked me straight in the eye and told me the UMC was definetly prolife. As for my wife, she feels so strongly about this she has already said she'll be leaving the UMC. Period. End of discussion. By default I "win" the debate over how our children will be raised.I'm not at all thrilled about it. The lady I love is deep in the hurt locker right now. I'd rather not have my case made at her expense. Anyway, she's "church shopping" and has already agreed to speak to one of my parish priests about her reservations regarding Catholicism.Please keep the prayers coming, she might eventually join the Church.
