What an amazing video, a great story, and what a fantastic ending!!
This was hard for me to watch. Wanting so much for him to make the goal — then another, that was a tough shot! — and wanting him not to be a mascot, but a teammate…I have mixed feelings about it. As much as possible, I want my disabled son to be just another kid, and then just another guy. But it's hard to argue with filling someone with delight, and I am sure that's what happened that night.
Thank you for sharing such an inspiring story. Showing up for every practice – such commitment. Finally being given a chance to play – playing full out. I was a kid who showed up to every practice, but still sat on the bench until the team was sufficiently ahead. I know how hard that is. When this guy got on the court, he did better than I did. By the way, it wasn't just one boy who was filled with delight that night. If you watch the video, the whole room was ecstatic at the end of the game – and I'll bet some of them were happy just because there was a basket at the buzzer regardless of who shot it.
