In God We Trust

February 12th, 2009

Here’s your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our faith in God, as a nation. NBC is taking a poll on “In God We Trust” to stay on our American currency. Please send this to every Christian you know so they can vote on this important subject. Please do it right away, before NBC takes this off the web page. Poll is still open so you can vote.

Gladly, as you will see, the God side is winning big!

Vivat Jesus,

Dan

Wow. This rocks. Do you mind if I write about your blog on our blog? I would love to get the word out there that a man-blog (mlog? jk) (that's Catholic) is out there!Taramoderncatholicmoms.blogspot

I don't wish to be a wet blanket but this tells me that Americans are more traditionalist than they are actively religious/faithful. I don't think it much of a stretch to think that the same control set of people answering this poll would be in favor of maintaining the current legal status quo of abortion on demand- it's just what they're used to. The dearth of courage and leadership in this country to challenge the contemporary status quo would have allowed for maintenance of the institution of slavery 145 years ago, to say nothing of Jim Crow laws 50 years ago. For change to occur today would require the solidarity of 100% of Christian faithful, staging massive sit-ins and nonviolent protests at every abortion clinic in this land. There must be 100% agreement of the subset of Christian faithful in this country in order for there to be tradition-bending change. But I guess it's nice that 'In God We Trust' can stay on the currency…while our actions (and inactions) scream 'At God We Spit'.

"There must be 100% agreement of the subset of Christian faithful in this country in order for there to be tradition-bending change." is feasible. Archbishop Chaput's report cited a statistic that pointed to even a higher number – since it is not limited to Christians. So, we can win this thing.
