Kyrie Brand - Distinctive apparel and gifts for Catholics and other Christians

My wife and I are starting a new business – Kyrie Brand. It is based on the idea that we are surrounded by, identify with, and even wear a variety of brands. The idea of Kyrie Brand is that we should be marked or “branded” for the Lord (Kyrie means Lord in Greek).

We have also found that sometimes there are great t-shirts that scream Christianity. These are great, in the right place. But sometimes, what we need is something that is appropriate to more occasions, something more subtle – perhaps an ichthys in place of a tiger or Nike swoosh on a polo shirt. Here is what is on the website about branding and the concept:

To brand means to label or mark. There are plenty of brands in our world today: BMW, Nike, Coke and DKNY, just to name a few. These are all brands that people willingly display as something that identifies them. Kyrie Brand was founded with that thought in mind. If we are willing to display our fondness for these material items, should we not be as willing to display our love of God? We wanted apparel that tastefully brands us as Christians, without being presumptuous or gaudy. Our shirts and accessories are of high quality materials and we take the greatest care and thought in our designs and embroidery to bring you classic styling, so you can mark yourself for the Lord!

The site also has men’s and women’s shirts, tote bags, as well as original posters, and decorative tiles to brand your home or office.

Check it out, and let me know what you think.

    Hi Rob,

I've been out of touch recently, but I like your new business idea. I agree with your idea that at times something more subtle is appropriate.

I noticed on one of the pages that it says Catholicism is the world's largest religion. I'm not sure, but that might now belong to one of the Muslim sects. The numbers I've seen recently say that counting all Christians together makes them just larger than all Muslims together. Of course, Catholicism is the largest of the Christian denominations. Let me know if you have info otherwise.

Again, I think it's a great idea. May your new business be profitable as it promotes the Faith.

Thanks, Naive. I hope it takes off too. We'll see if it works.

Here is a link that is relevant to the size of different religions.

Catholicism alone accounts for 17.3%, adding in all other Christians takes us to 33.3% (which means that more than half of all Christians are Catholic). All Muslims account for 19.2% – however, there are multiple flavors of Muslim (denominations if you will).

  3. Great idea, Rob! You're right… there are many times when you could use a subtle hint of Catholicism… when a "Mary is my homegirl" fitted tee may not be appropriate. Love it. Will definitely be purchasing something.
