Catholic Dads is growing! A new and exciting aspect is a featured writers section. I am pleased to be able to bring you one of those one day each week.
They say you should write what you know. As a Catholic Dad of a fistful of children (the Nodlings), I’ve come to know the daily joys and sorrows of trying to live out the Faith in our modern world. There are many options out there — voices that are clamoring to be heard, prevailing winds of philosophy, sirens of fame, fortune, and success.
My wife and I made a promise the day we got married that we would accept children lovingly as gifts from God and bring them up in the practice of the Faith. We promised to be true to each other and by our covenant to serve God faithfully. As a father, my job is to love my wife as Christ loves His Church and to lead my family spiritually.
If it does not please you to serve the LORD, decide today whom you will serve, the gods your fathers served beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose country you are dwelling. As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
Join me every Thursday as I chronicle “As For Me And My House“, the place where the rubber meets the road.
No one has all the answers, but we can help and learn from each other. I’d like to encourage a lively feedback: thoughts, suggestions, or observations – put ‘em in the combox, let us know you’re listening, and we’ll meet you where you are.

This may be a bit pesky for a column that doesn't officially have an article yet (and for someone who couldn't be a Catholic dad if SHE tried!), but I want to subscribe to your articles in Google Reader. When I try to detect the RSS feed for this category (i.e. just your posts), I get a FeedBurner error. Will you please check that out? Thanks!
Thanks for the reminder, Lindsay. With Feedburner I have to burn all of the categories I want to have a feed for – and I definitely want to do that for our featured authors. It has been fixed. You can subscribe the usual way or here is the feed address:

Thank you! That was lightning fast!
"My wife and I made a promise the day we got married that we would accept children lovingly as gifts from God and bring them up in the practice of the Faith."
As did we many years ago. Now that our youngest of 5 is 18, and we have two grandchildren, I'm happy to be able to look back and know that we don't have to wish we had done anything differently.
Awesome, Nod! As another dad of 5, I look forward to comparing notes.
After readingResolution for men, I was happy to stumble onto this blog…as a father of five, expecting our sixth in March…I have found renewed devotion to Joshua 24:15! Look forward to catching up on your writing. P.B.T.G.
Congratulations to you, Alvin, on your sixth child and welcome! Looks like I need to get back to the writing, eh?
