My post is a little late this week. It will also be short. You see, my family has decided to remain in Alaska for now, because of what it affords our family. This is quite an odd decision, based on the fact that after Wednesday I won’t have a job and we will be living with some parishioners that have an apartment above their garage.
That being said I wanted to use our situation as an example. You have to trust God. We very much feel called to be here. God guided us here, and seems to be pulling us to stay. Thousands of miles away from our family, and yet we feel as if we should give this “a go.”
So we decided: “Let’s try it. Let’s let go, and trust in God.” So that is what we are doing. Can we fail? Yes. Could we be mistaken? Yes. Could we wind up a few months from now realizing we were wrong, and pack up and move back to the Midwest? Sure.
But isn’t that the case in any battle? Don’t armies often go into battle, and just when it seems as if it can’t get any worse and the battle can’t be won… the sky breaks and the sun comes out? We are waiting for that sun moment, or that SON moment. You see, the devil attacks when we are weakest. He doesn’t want us to succeed. So he will fill us with doubt, fear, trepidation, and all sorts of ill feelings hoping that we shy away from God’s direction. He makes the easy road seem hard, because he doesn’t want us walking the path God has created for us. So sometimes we have to suck up that fear, and remain steadfast in our trust in God.
So… I apologize for the short post, but you see, I am busy preparing for the intensity of the battle that is about to be ramped up. We are preparing for an onslaught, and I have to prepare physically, and spiritually. Check back next week… for a more… substantive post; and remember, keep praying and receiving the Sacraments, they are our best weapons in this battle.

You and your family will be in my prayers!
Since we came into the Church I’ve been in and out of work, a LOT, Joe so I get it. I get making a decision that to many may seem odd and that has immediate costs and possible unknown future costs attached to it. I can only say, as hard as it has been for us, and is still, it was the right thing. May God grant you peace in the midst of it. May the intercession of Good St. Joseph soon find you employed again.
Thank God for that family with the spare apartment! Continuing to pray for you.
